Climate impacts represent a great threat to any territory and are the issue my master’s thesis originated from.
Measures to prevent or minimise impacts that may occur are implemented through climate adaptation planning, a practice that can make use of either engineering solutions or others being more in harmony with nature. My thesis investigated the latter option, by submitting an example of how natural ecosystems can be introduced or restored to help reduce climate risks, in order to safeguard vulnerable populations and socio-economic activities.
I am grateful to Grenfellove for the mission it carries out, as it recognises the importance of these matters for everyone’s future and it represents to me the trust placed onto new generations who want to take action to build a better, safer world.
It is a great honour to receive this award, which motivates me to continue to work in this direction.
